You've heard the phrase random acts of kindness? It's when you do something nice or kind for someone without planning it and without really telling anyone about it. Random. Did you know that random acts of kindness are probably Biblical? Think about it. Our main purpose in life is to love God and Jesus. God wants us to serve him. In another BRINGING BACK GOD blog, there is a post about love thy neighbor and help thy neighbor-the second commandment. Isn't helping someone randomly helping your neighbor? When you do something randomly, it is part of the works and deeds that are spoken of in James and 1 Timothy: "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone (James 3:17). "That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life (1Timothy, 6:18-19). Helping our neighbor gets us closer to heaven, which is what God wants for us.
At BRINGING BACK GOD church in MARIETTA PA and BRISTOL TN, we want to help you do your works and deeds...random acts of kindness. PASTOR JOHN COLLINS preaches about helping your neighbor, giving you a hand up, not a hand out. It's Christian. And what's really special is the chance to help someone up and out, it gives you a really good feeling. Most of us want the recognition for doing something for someone else, but this wipes out the whole deed. Matthew 6:3 "but when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth." In other words, don't brag about what you did. You did it, you know it, God knows it and that is what matters.
So go out and find something that you can do randomly for someone else. Love thy neighbor as thyself. If you want to hear more, stop by a BRINGING BACK GOD church . Or, you can listen to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS online at www.blogtalkradio.com/pastorjohncollins
God bless you.
